our departments

over 300 colleagues work in head office across the multiple sites of Film House and Princess House in London, Royal House in Solihull and Windsor House in Marlow

there are 8 departments in head office, finance, human resources, product, marketing, e-commerce, operations, IT and supply chain

managers in head office work closely with their department Director to fully support our stores, our warehouses and our online business and so get customers closer to the music, film, and games they love.  Our head office departments have many responsibilities.  Here’s a brief outline of what they do.

  • operations

    our operations team provides support to improve the operating standards and efficiency of our stores. They have a dedicated customer service team to drive improvement in our stores and they support developments such as new store openings and store refurbishments. 

     

  • IT

    our IT team develop the tools and systems we need across both hmv and Waterstone’s.  The team support developments across both businesses, providing IT solutions to improve our efficiency and service to our customers.

     

  • supply chain

    our supply chain ensures that stock from our suppliers reaches our stores and our online customers as quickly as possible, and at the lowest cost.  Our distribution centres form part of our supply chain and they distribute and recycle stock across our stores

  • product

    our product department are fanatical about music, film and games.  They are responsible for developing a depth and breath of titles and genres and related products in our stores and online.  They work closely with our product suppliers to negotiate the best offers, they design our in store promotions, maintain the online range and inform stores of new products so that hmv has the best range both on the high street and online

  • finance

    the finance team keep us regularly informed of our sales and profit performance across all areas of the business.  They work together with senior managers to create our budget and once this is established, they assist with plans to achieve it.  The team ensures we achieve a financial return on any investments that we make in hmv and provides support to ensure that costs are minimised. 

     

     

     

  • human resources

    our human resources team provide support, coaching and guidance for colleagues across the business in the areas of recruitment, performance management, communication, employee relations and payroll.  They also support colleagues across the business to develop their skills and knowledge.

     

  • marketing

    our marketing team designs and delivers our media strategy to help drive customers into our stores and onto our website.  They develop our advertising campaigns and our loyalty programme.  Alongside this, they design our graphics to support our store and online promotions, manage our press and public relations, as well as arranging and supporting personal appearances by bands and artists across our stores.  The marketing team will also manage partnerships with affiliates and the online marketing activity to turn customers browsing into dedicated hmv.com shoppers.

  • e-commerce

    our e-commerce team is passionate about making the online experience as easy and exciting as possible for our customers.  They will consider new initiatives to ensure that hmv.com is moving with the needs of our customers
