We have a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) forum, headed up by Simon Fox, our CEO. The forum meet up on a regular basis to review our environmental focus and charitable projects and put in place new initiatives.

our charity

At hmv we are passionate about doing that little bit extra by supporting our chosen charity CLIC Sargent.

Every day 10 families are told their child has cancer. As the UK's leading children's cancer charity, CLIC Sargent is the only organisation to offer them all round care and support and are there every step of the way.

By supporting CLIC Sargent, we can help promote awareness of the charity and help to raise as much money as possible that really can make a difference.

our environment

In 2008 hmv worked closely with the Carbon Trust to review our carbon emissions as a business and we are now working through their recommendations to actively reduce our energy consumption.

"giving and green" agents were introduced into all stores and head office and the CSR are working with them to ensure we are all doing our best to help the environment as well as raise money for our chosen charity.

We have also focused on our carrier bag usage and are committed to reducing the amoung of bags we use. All our carrier bags are made from a degradable material, and in September 2008 we launched our hmv and FOPP bag for life. Made out of recycled plastic bottles they provide our customers with an alternative to a plastic carrier bag as well as raising money for Clic Sargent.

why did you want to work for hmv?

i left school without a clue what to do careers wise, and my one big passion was music in general (and Bowie in particular) and I sort of fell into the job and found I loved it.
