Why did you join hmv?

I joined hmv because I love the brand and heritage of the company. Before I joined, I would spend hours in my local hmv store browsing the music and film sections and spending most of my money on what I picked up along the way! It was such an amazing environment to be in, that when I saw the role advertised, I knew I just had to apply!

What do you enjoy most about working at hmv?

The people. Everyone's so friendly and helpful, you feel right at home. Plus you're working with the most exciting products - who wouldn't love working with the latest music, films, games, and technology?!

What does your job involve?

I'm currently the Marketing Planner for Ireland which involves providing support and assistance to the overall Irish marketing function and developing brand awareness within that market. This mostly deals with organizing all the above-the-line advertising, liaising with the commercial team, suppliers, and our media and design agencies to ascertain the right offer is being advertised. I also coordinate the Irish in-store events, working closely with the relevant departments and our PR agency to ensure the events are executed safely, effectively create good publicity for hmv, and ultimately generate sales.

What's been your highlight of working for hmv?

On a work level, my highlight of working for hmv is managing and delivering a successful Christmas campaign in Ireland - 2010 was the year I undertook it all, so getting to the end of with no major problems was such an achievement. On a perks side, the highlight would be attending various award ceremonies like the NMEs and the Empire Awards.
